How to Survive PAWs
Make a schedule and stick to it. You’ll want to create a daily routine of healthy habits that will help ease the symptoms of PAWS. Taking care of yourself is an important part of recovery. You can do that by exercising regularly, eating three healthy meals a day and getting enough sleep at night. If you’re experiencing insomnia, regular exercise can help you get a good night’s sleep.
Also factor in your work schedule and allow some time for hobbies or other activities you enjoy. If you’re religious, include church and any type of groups you are involved with through them. Having several different types of support systems can help in staying on track.

Watch out for triggers. When you feel an urge or craving, stop to think about what caused you to have that urge to resort to old behaviors. Once you identify it, you may be able to prevent it in the future. If it’s something you have no control over, such as work stress, think of other things you can do it if strikes again. Maybe you can call a friend, or go for a walk.
Remember that it won’t last forever. The symptoms will slowly subside over time. It may take longer for some people than others, but things will get better.
