Relationship Counseling

relationship-counseling-charlotte-ncSpouses, family members, and loved ones can be highly fulfilling, and sometimes also the most challenging relationships in our lives. Many of the individuals we treat at Legacy come to understand that the sources of their substance abuse and addictions are sometimes deeply entangled with complex and difficult interpersonal relationships.

When an individual has been struggling with substance abuse and addiction, close relationships many times are strained and family members suffer emotionally. Throughout our family program, we will work with you individually to help identify the negative or false limiting beliefs you may hold about yourself that have facilitated your substance abuse and dependency, influenced your life with family, as well as, other aspects of your life. These beliefs were likely formed when you were a child as a result of a dysfunctional relationship with one or more family members or parents. During your therapy sessions, you will learn how to free yourself from these false beliefs so you can begin your healing process, freeing yourself from addiction and dependency for good. On many occasions, your spouse and/or other family members may be asked to participate in your therapy at Legacy. These family sessions provide a forum where often-longstanding, communication barriers can finally be moved beyond, all the while allowing your family to learn how they can help you take positive steps towards living a life free of addiction and substance abuse.
