Today, our drug and alcohol treatment center in Charlotte will discuss another type of warning sign that could predict a relapse. Believe it or not, there are a few unexpected things that can throw even the most sincere recovering addict into a serious relapse that can take months or more to reverse.

As you slip closer to a relapse, it's common to become selfish and moody again, for no reason. This almost always happens after you begin thinking about the good times during your addiction. You get in the same mindset that you were in before. If someone doesn’t smile at you, you take it personally. If a friend asks another friend out to dinner, and not you, you think you’re not good enough.

Most likely, while you were an active addict, you acted moody or selfish most of the time. You probably made everything personal and overreacted to situations that would have been unimportant, otherwise. A low tolerance for anything that seemed frustrating or annoying was a common thing, as well.
