More Activities That Recovering Addicts Can Enjoy in January
Morning Pottery Open Studio
Are you interested in learning about ceramics, making your own pottery, or the basics of working with clay as an artistic medium? If so, consider taking a course at the Dublin Community Recreation Center's morning pottery open studio. This course is designed to engage all skill levels.
Inexperienced students will learn all the basics like slab rolling, making coils, and how to build a pinch pot. You'll also learn how to add textures, different colors, how to create different shapes, glazing, and finishing techniques as well. When time permits, students also learn how to work a potter's wheel. For the more experienced students, the course focuses more on helping you refine your skills and techniques. You'll also be able to work on ceramic projects of your choice.
All students can practice wheel throwing, hand building and will also have access to high and low-fire glaze applications. The course fees include all supplies, including firing which is completed by the on-site instructor.

The Center of Science and Industry, or COSI, is a wonderful place for kids and adults alike. Kids are inspired and encouraged to learn more about the world. Parents and adults are able to have some fun, meet new people, and stay up on the latest technology. There are different events each month for people of all ages.
Local Matters Cooking Class - Tofu Four Ways
Are you trying to lose weight as one of your resolutions this year? Are you aiming to eat cleaner with more nutritious foods? Then you'll love this cooking adventure and event from Local Matters. You'll learn four different techniques that will teach you how to cook plant-based meals. Recipes have yet to be announced. This course will be held on January 25th, from 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm at the Local Matters CareSource Community Kitchen. The address is 633 Parsons Ave, Columbus, OH 43206. This is a family friendly event and people ages 5 and up are welcome to attend. The cost is "pay-what-you-can" donations. If you're a female that is 16 or older, we hope you'll consider this self-defense event. This 3 hour course is being offered by the Dublin Police Department on Wednesday, January 25th, from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm. Attendees will learn from classroom-style presentations and hands-on basic self-defense techniques.
The event will take place at the Dublin Community Recreation Center, located at 5600 Post Road, Dublin, OH 43017, and costs $10 to attend. If interested, please register at least one week prior to the event date to ensure you receive your very own personal alarm device. Please wear comfortable clothes and tennis shoes.
Think Outside the Brick: The Creative Art of Lego
Here's another family friendly event that most everyone will enjoy! From now until February 26th, 2017, you and your loved ones can check out the Think Outside the Brick collaborative project at the Columbus Museum of Art. Thanks to the Ohio LEGO User’s Group (OhioLUG), fans of the toy can enjoy seeing the creative potential of LEGO® bricks up-close and personal. You'll get to see a gigantic model of Columbus featuring familiar landmarks and imaginative creations. OhioLUG will also be creating LEGO models of everyone's favorite Pokémon characters that will be installed in many different locations around the museum.
