Towards the end of last month, two men were involved in a death that was connected with drugs. These men were charged with first-degree murder in Davidson County. High Point police say that Billy Ingram and Brian Davis, both of High Point, were arrested for the murder of a teenager, Brandon Burrow. The 18-year-old was shot at the Motel 6 in High Point. He was taken to the hospital, but died around 12 hours later from a gunshot wound to the back.
This murder has been deemed a drug deal gone bad by the district attorney's office. If you need drug treatment in Greensboro NC, please get help by calling Legacy Freedom.
This is not the first time something like this has happened in recent years. The surveillance video from Motel 6 shows evidence that both Ingram and Davis were at the scene of the crime. However, Ingram was the only one who could be identified from the video. He named Davis as the second suspect. Other charges were filed for both men. In addition to murder, they were charged with possession with intent to sell, manufacture and distribution of cocaine and heroin, resisting arrest and trafficking heroin. Additionally, Davis has more outstanding drug charges in the neighboring county of Forsyth.
Members of the Davis family don't believe that there was a drug deal during the time of the murder. They believe that Ingram and Davis were just at the hotel to use heroin.
In an interview, the county magistrate, Larry Casterline stated that almost 75 percent of violent crimes in High Point are directly related to drugs. This shows, in his opinion, that those not involved in substance abuse shouldn't have to worry about violence even though violent crimes are very present in the area.
That does, however, bring up a valid point. Obviously, drugs are a serious problem in this area. Both the police department and the DA's office are working hard to shut down any and all violent crimes related to drug use.
It's important to be aware of the drug trafficking and other activity going on in your area. Police are hopeful that, with enough awareness, it will be possible to crack down on these types of crimes. Law enforcement is working hard every day to decrease the amount of drug activity in this area.
