Easy Resolutions for Recovering Addicts

Spend Time Outdoors - Especially in winter, we forget to take time to step outside and breathe a breath of fresh air. Make a point to spend at least 10 minutes outdoors once a day. You’ll be surprised by how easy it is to do this and how much better you’ll feel after!

Put Electronics Away - While we don’t expect you to put them away indefinitely, it is important to think about leaving them in your pocket or bag during time spent with family and friends. Give yourself this mental break. Even when you don’t realize it, constantly checking email or social media is tiring. Make your resolution by setting goals. Don’t use your tablet or phone during TV time. Put your phone away when meeting friends or family for dinner. Start small and then continue moving forward until you reach the point that you’re able to leave your phone or tablet alone for an hour at a time.

Don’t be afraid to choose several books to read and leave them in the car, by your bed and in your briefcase or purse. No one says you have to read one book at a time, from cover to cover, and then move on to the next. Just pick these books up when you need a minute to refresh. Open it randomly and read. You’ll be surprised by how inspired you’ll be after reading for just ten minutes!
