1. You begin to think fondly of the time you used drugs or drank.
You probably have a few pleasant memories associated with your substance abuse, so it’s normal to look back and think those were good times. If you reminisce without thinking of the damage it did, then you might be headed toward a relapse. You need to remember that there was a reason you stopped and that if you return to drugs or alcohol, it will damage the work you’ve done.

4. You think just one won’t hurt.

If you let yourself think those thoughts enough, you’ll believe yourself. You have to remember that doing it one time could put you back into the place you were before you got sober. Remember that just because you have the thought of going back to old habits doesn’t mean that you have to act on it. Talk over your feelings with your counselor, mentor or support group. Everyone faces periods that are more difficult than others. It’s important to face them now because ignoring them could lead to you reverting to old behaviors.
