Dehydration During Recovery

Drug Rehab Charlotte: Eliminate Dehydration During Recovery

Welcome back. In today's post our drug rehab in Charlotte is going to go over dehydration during recovery and how to prevent it from happening this summer. To take a look back at our previous posts, be sure to visit here.

It's important to avoid triggering dehydration during recovery. Sometimes, dehydration can cause migraines and other issues that may trigger the urge to use drugs. One must be dedicated to prevention, especially during the summer months. Start by understanding what factors contribute to dehydration:

  • Warm weather
  • High altitudes
  • Increased physical activity
  • Weight loss
  • Illness
  • Chronic disease such as diabetes, kidney disease, drug addiction and alcohol abuse, etc.

According to, "Next, consider how you feed your body. Adult men should consume at least 3 liters of fluid every day and adult women – 2.2 liters. Be conscious of your consumption of caffeine as it can contribute to dehydration. Plan ahead for physical activity by hydrating the day before and supplement fluid intake with sports drinks to replenish lost electrolytes and salts. If enjoying the sunshine, take breaks in a shady location and if ill, be sure to focus on drinking lots of fluids."

By listening to your body and being able to identify warning signs, you can catch dehydration at its preliminary onset, rehydrate, and kill any urges to use drugs to eliminate pain from migraines.

To help prevent dehydration, always travel with a prevention kit that includes water, sports drinks, medication, a small snack or any other items that could help to reduce or eliminate dehydration, altogether.
