Our Charlotte Rehab Center Cares for Your Wellbeing, During the Holidays.
Today, our Charlotte rehab center will offer the last of our tips to ensure a stress-less and positive holiday with family and friends. We know how important it is to stay calm during one of the most stressful times of the year. Even those that aren’t dealing with the aftercare of post-rehab can get a bit crazy. The last few tips below will help you stay drug and stress-free during the holidays.
Get plenty of sleep. The lack of sleep can really contribute to the crazy, stressful feeling that comes with holidays. If you have trouble sleeping at night, be sure to take naps during the day when you feel tired. No one will ridicule you for that. Your health is important. Family and friends will understand that and be supportive.
Don’t overeat. Overeating during the holidays is always an issue. Most of the time, it’s not such a big deal (for everything but the waistline, anyway!) but overeating can make you feel tired, irritable, and stressed. Don’t let this happen. The smallest thing can set off a relapse during aftercare. Try to eat 6 small meals during the holiday season. Stay away from eating only 2-3 large meals.
Stay away from alcohol. Drinking alcohol can cause stress and lead to drug addiction. It might relax you for a short period, but alcohol depletes vitamins your body needs to sleep and stay hydrated. Instead of having a drink to de-stress take a walk, a bath, or listen to music.
Take a walk. Staying indoors for a few days can really make you gloomy and blue. Try taking a walk, despite the cold weather. The crisp air will rejuvenate you and help melt away any stress or anxiety that you might have. Also be sure to enjoy the scenery; there are so many great things all around us that we miss. Take a deep breath and drink it all in!
